ABOUT THE ANTHOLOGY

“Our Stories Belong in History” is a groundbreaking anthology that brings together the voices of three generations of Black and Latina U.S. women executive leaders to share their empowering untold stories of overcoming insurmountable odds to achieve and sustain success in a nation still grappling with systemic racism. The book offers readers an intimate and inspiring portrayal of both the struggles and triumphs of women leaders of color in corporate environments, including proven leadership and entrepreneurship strategies that can serve as a vital resource for every woman aged 18 or older. From navigating the vicious cycle of work burnout to finding balance, liberation, fulfillment and true purpose, these stories resonate deeply with women from all walks of life–underscoring the boundless potential of women to be change agents, community pillars, and firsts. Every woman deserves to hear these stories, share these stories, and feel empowered to stay the course, remembering how powerful women are, especially when we stand together, because the power of our oneness is undeniable.

ABOUT THE CO-AUTHOR

Ingrid Cockhren, M.Ed., is a Jill of all trades. Professor, CEO, trauma & resilience expert, consultant, coach, keynote speaker, podcast host, and writer are just some of her titles.

Mrs. Cockhren has dedicated her life to investigating and educating the public about the impact of early trauma, adversity, and Adverse Childhood experiences (ACEs). She graduated from Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College. Her research areas are African American parenting styles, Adverse Childhood Experiences, historical & collective trauma, brain development, developmental psychology, and epigenetics. She is an adjunct professor specializing in Black psychology & developmental psychology and the CEO of PACEs Connection, a social network dedicated to raising awareness of adverse childhood experiences.

Mrs. Cockhren coaches leaders and consults for hospitals, colleges, non-profits, and other institutions. She is a founding partner of the Black Women’s Health & Healing Collective, an initiative focused on examining Black women’s health equity. Her next endeavor, LeMai Daisy, is a non-profit addressing postpartum depression in Black mothers and raising awareness of the importance of the first two months of motherhood.

Ingrid Cockhren advocates for Black mothers & children and is a community change agent. She sits on several boards for organizations that empower and heal women, children, and communities. She is a native Tennessean and resides in Nashville, TN.
